I get that, like I like kids, taking care of my familys kids and stuff, but I don't think I could actually want one of my own, people say I would be a great mum, but I don't really wanna be one...I just want to in someway 'LIVE'

I am going to share a personal story. I am an adopted child. Born 1985, well after Roe V. Wade I am quite cognizant that my biological mother could have had me aborted rather than put up for adoption.

I could go into details but long story short I wish that the option of adoption would come up more in these discussions.

That being said if the woman wants to raise the child as her own but as trouble with funding I am in favor of government support of single mothers.

I DO generally thinking try to think what I would feel like if I was in the other persons place.

Finally, I CAN argue the debate from a pure logic, and morality/ethics standpoint and try to leave my biases out of it. And while that is my personal preference I have come to realize that sharing my bias ironically works better, even if it as an argument that appeals toward emotion rather than the previously mentioned logic and ethics.

I would be up for having the debate purely from THAT side of the fence if you are interested. But for now I will let things go.

@Ben: Hm, I don't know how common it was with adoption in ancient Greece. But it was probably more common to expose a child than to abort it. That way there was a small chance that maybe the child would be taken in by someone else.

As for our modern society, I think that there should always be the option to put your child up for adoption (actually, I think more people should adopt instead of having kids of their own, because we are already too many in this world). But I also could understand if a woman doesn't want to go through a pregnancy and delivery, because it's very exhausting and could damage your body (I was pregnant once myself and I chose abortion).
