I wanted to show how Persephone got her present hairstyle. As Artemis points out, it really isn't that different from her old one. In my earliest Greek mythology comics when the design for Persephone's character was still a bit under construction, she had long hair and cut it as a small act of rebellion against her mother. Then I realized that Demeter wouldn't be shocked at all by this hairstyle, since it reminded very much of the hairstyles you can see kids and young people depicted with in the Minoan frescoes. So I let her have a similar hairstyle already from the beginning - which I admit maybe wasn't so wise of me since it made the younger and older Persephone to look almost identical. But unfortunately I realized that too late.

And, I know, if she can make her hair grow magically, why can't she make it fall off too? Well, maybe she can but let Artemis do it anyway, because Artemis thought it was fun.
