So this is how I fitted the myth about Hephaistos into my comics. I made Hera a bit nicer than she was in myth, by explaining that her cruel treatment of her newborn child was due to a psychosis. But even if she hadn't got a psychosis she would probably still have been quite disappointed that her son wasn't perfect. By throwing Hephaistos out she actually gave him a happy childhood, since he was taken in by Thetis, a daughter of the old sea god Nereus, who took very good care of him.
